Director of Marketing and Business Development

Location: Chicago, IL  Department: Business Development  Type: Full Time  Min. Experience: Manager/Supervisor

Pappageorge Haymes Partners (PH) is seeking a proactive and versatile Director of Marketing and Business Development to oversee vital administrative functions. This role encompasses managing RFP/Qs, proposal development, contract negotiations, and the issuance of project documents. Additionally, work closely with the Managing Partners to generate various types of project-related and legal correspondence, coordinate schedules and meetings, produce reports, and take on assigned projects. This position not only offers the flexibility of a hybrid schedule (work remotely and in-office) but also provides an opportunity for professional growth and career advancement within our firm.

Primary Responsibilities:

Proposals: Manage, craft, organize, and track proposal documents with precision
Contracts: Managing, preparing and reviewing AIA Owner/Architect Agreements, Architect/Consultant agreements, and other legal documents
Submittals: Help guide the preparation of responses to Requests for Proposal/Qualifications.
Insurance Certificates: Request, distribute, and manage certificates for projects
Client and Consultant Engagement: Actively engage with clients and consultants, proactively following up to secure signed agreements and proposals
Internal Collaboration: Coordination with the Marketing and Accounting staff, related to project organization
Document Management: Maintain a well-structured electronic filing system
Marketing Committee: Participate in the Marketing Committee, contributing to the development and implementation of marketing strategies and promotional materials
Attention to Detail: Exhibit exceptional verbal and written legal communication skills, with a sharp eye for proofing and editing to maintain the highest standards of grammar and clarity

Qualifications

Education Background: Associates degree or Certificate in Business, Business Law, Paralegal Studies
Professional Experience: 8+ years of progressive contract documentation preparation, editing, and negotiation, within the architectural and/or engineering contexts
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite: Essential skills in Microsoft Suites, especially Excel and Word
Versatility: Experience with AIA Contract documents, Mac-based applications (Pages, Numbers, Keynote), Google Apps (Sheets, Docs, etc) and Deltek Vision is highly beneficial
Proactive Multitasker: Takes initiative, self-motivated, versatile and highly dependable

The ideal candidate will be an integral part of the team, leading the project from feasibility and concept design through documentation and construction administration, all while building a strong repeat client base to support organizational growth. Ideally this candidate will have experience ranging from mid to senior level management. This position does allow for the flexibility of working remote and from the office.

Responsibilities:

Direct, coordinate and participate in schematic design through construction administration
Develop and maintain project work plans, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery
Coordinate internal meetings for weekly tasks and project status updates
Serve as the primary contact for clients and consultants
Collaborate and coordinate with consultants from schematic design through construction administration
Conduct regular on-site visits, view prospective sites with clients, prepare observation reports, and respond to RFIs and submittals
Oversee and actively engage in daily design, programming, and technical development to meet project and client needs
Demonstrate an advanced understanding of building materials, systems, specifications, codes, details, and construction techniques
Conduct thorough agency review analyses, including accessibility, zoning, and life-safety evaluations
Participate in our mentorship program to support the growth of both junior staff and oneself
Actively engage in internal and external professional development opportunities
Able to take initiative and work independently

Job Requirements:

Professional Degree in Architecture
Licensed Architect
5+ years of professional experience with a focus on multi-family residential project types
Proficient in BIM / 3D Modeling software (ArchiCad preferred)
Excellent communication skills with proven ability to effectively manage and lead a team, project, budget, schedule and communication with clients and consultants
Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment while working on several projects simultaneously as either the project lead or in a production role
Knowledge of Building Codes (Chicago and IBC)
Strong design creativity and technical proficiency
Entrepreneurial and self-motivated
