Ogden Plaza

2,050 s.f. Bank

Chicago, Illinois

The project site encompasses the entirety of a small, triangular, block along the one of Chicago’s diagonal boulevards as it slices through the grid of this near west side neighborhood. This location offers both the tremendous opportunity to maximize commercial exposure as well as the challenge of concealing parking, service and drive-thru operations from the well-traveled surrounding streets. The smaller bank building occupies the prime corner position at the southern, narrow end of the site with the larger, retail, building stretching along the broader, northern end of the site. Both buildings are purposely positioned to anchor the three corners of the site, respectfully maintaining the urban street wall. Customer parking and the bank drive-through operations are contained within the interior of the development. The rear, service, side of the retail building is set back from the lesser traveled of the three streets so as to be screened by a landscaped buffer. The building’s neo-traditional design incorporates richly detailed brick and stone walls and pilasters, capped by a projected cornice line. Articulated, two-story high, entrances mark the building corners, adding emphasis to the unique geometry of the site.
