The Enterprise Companies /
The project includes three historical mansions and the Scottish Rite Cathedral. Located in Chicago´s Gold Coast neighborhood, the Cathedral was originally built as the Unity Church in 1869. It survived the Great Chicago Fire, but with extensive damage and was rebuilt in Joliet Limestone as the towering Gothic structure we see today. The mansions were built in the 1880´s for prominent business figures and feature Victorian detailing in the elaborate stone and copper façades. The Cathedral and all three mansions are undergoing extensive façade renovation. Cleaning of the stone and masonry, re-building and replacement of copper flashing, reconstruction of windows and architectural ornamentation according to researched historical profiles are part of the renovation program for these Landmark status structures.
